Translate funding launched to support early-stage med tech innovation

Date published: 20/03/17

Translate Medical Technologies has launched support packages totalling more than £200,000 – in-kind and cash – to help academics, companies and healthcare professionals in the Leeds City Region progress new medical technologies.

The packages are available to academics, businesses and clinicians to host challenge, innovation and consultation workshops.  New innovation projects from the workshops could win further early stage validation one-to-one support from dedicated technology innovation managers.

“Our new funds are being allocated in two ways” said Dr Danielle Miles, a technology innovation manager for Translate. “Our co-development packages are available for businesses, healthcare professionals and academics to deliver workshops that address specific unmet needs or opportunities that they’re thinking about.  We’re also offering technology accelerator packages for academics to progress their existing medical technology research projects closer to market, by de-risking them at an early stage”.

The deadline to apply is 31 May, followed by a second round ending on 31 July.
